8-Day Historical tour in Ghana
DAY ONE
On your arrival at the kotoka international airport,you will be met by our guide who will take you to our beautiful hotel,carefully brief you on this tour as you relax over our complimentary AKWABA (welcome)drink.
DAY TWO
After breakfast,we will visit important historical sites in Accra the capital city of Ghana. Places like National museum,independence square and W.B du Bois center.We shall also pay a visit to to the mausoleum of Dr kwame Nkruma,the first president of Ghana.
DAY THREE
This morning after breakfast we will depart Accra for cape coast.On arrival we shall check into our very beautiful hotel and after lunch,we shall visit the cape coast castle.This castle tell neither the stories of kings and queens nor of romance that most castles is associated with but the sad story of slavery.Here we will learn all about slavery as this castle was the last dwelling place of African slaves before shipment to the new world.
DAY FOUR
It will be unusual to visit cape coast without going to kakum national park for a walk on the canopy walkway.so this morning we dare the canopy walkway.This walk way heisted on seven huge tree is the only one of such in Africa,it offers a view of the forest as far as the eye can see from above.It is one of the best places to be in this world.
After lunch,we will visit the St. Georges's castle at Elmina. Another slave castle,this is the oldest building in west Africa.It still has the chains and the shackles used in slavery.As we walk through the rooms,prisons,dungeons and other compartments of this old slave house,we will make history as we will pass through the gate of no return and still make a return.So be sure to be part of this history making trip.
DAY FIVE
After breakfast,we depart Cape coast for Kumasi but before arriving kumasi,we shall make stops at important slave sites. First will be at Assin manso. A river in this little town provided the slaves their last bathing place and fitness check before been marched to cape coast for shipment.We may also visit another site at assin praso if time permits before finally making it to kumasi.
DAY SIX
After breakfast we will move into kumasi the capital city of the Ashantis.The level of development and prosperity of this town tell all about the Ashanti people.In the olden days the Ashantis were know to be great warriors and to be the king of this warlike people the Ashantihene(for so they call their king) must be a brave worrior.As we visit the national cultural center,Prempe 2nd jubilee museum,we will learn the history behind the people of the Ashanti region.We will also visit the palace of the Ashantihene before returning to our hotel after a memorable day.
DAY SEVEN
Before departing kumasi for accra,we will visit Bonwire kente weaving village.we will learn the history behind the weaving of this special cloth which is almost the trade mark of Ghana before departing for Accra.
DAY EIGHT
If time permit before your final departure,we will visit the cultural center in Accra or the Makola market where you will test your bargaining power in an attempt to buy any souvenir that will attract you.We will then take you to the airport to draw closing to this unforgettable holiday.
